The Richland Springs Lady Coyotes made school history Friday, February 5th, at the Coyote Gymnasium, as they became the first team in school history to sweep District play with an impressive 10-0 record. Going untouched throughout District play, the Lady Coyotes secured the 1A District 17 Champion position by beating Brookesmith Lady Mustangs 63-10.

Leading the Lady Coyote pack to this outstanding victory was Freshman Ryleigh Bryant. Not only scoring from her impressive defensive steals and rebounds, Bryant shot very well from the outside and was able to rack up 27 points. Following behind Bryant was Freshman Lili Appleton who contributed to the Lady Coyotes success by dropping in 11 points. Also scoring and leading the team in assist, Junior point guard Brynlii Chandler made her presence known by providing 9 assists and scoring 8 points. Freshman

Hailee Mack impressed the stands by keeping the offense rolling with an impressive count of 11 offensive rebounds and also added 6 points to the Lady Coyotes victory. No spot was left blank in the scoring column as every Lady Coyote contributed to the big win. Other scorers for the Lady Coyotes included: Raegan Wright-4 points, Nancy Valdez-4 points, and Piper Moats-2.

Consisting of only 4 Freshman and 3 Juniors, the Lady Coyotes are making a bold statement in Region 3 basketball. With their win on Friday, Richland Springs captured the 2021 Bi-District title as well.
