Richland Springs, Cherokee to compete at State Track and Field

The Richland Springs High School and Cherokee High School girls and boys varsity track and field teams are set to compete on Saturday, May 14, at the 1A Track and Field State Championships meet held at Mike A. Myers on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin.

For Richland Springs, the Coyotes will have the boys’ 4x100-meter relay quartet of Jadeyn Bryant, Zeke Hoevers, Nick Nilson, and Zane Capps compete as well as Jadeyn Bryant individually in the boys’ 300-meter hurdles event. As for the Lady Coyotes, the girls' 4x200-meter relay quartet of Ryleigh Bryant, Raegan Wright, Madison Thurmon, and Lili Appleton will compete as well as Ryleigh Bryant individually in both the girls’ 300-meter hurdles and the 100-meter dash events.

For Cherokee, the Indians will have the boys’ 4x200-meter relay quartet of Joseph Bond, Gunner Baugh, Caleob Houston, and Rode Ligon compete as well as Joseph Bond individually in both the boys’ shot put and discus events. As for the Lady Indians, Cherokee will have Brissa Baugh compete in the girls’ high jump event as well as Sydnie Bond in the girls’ 300-meter hurdles event.

The 1A events list is as follows: 9 a.m. for the girls’ 3,200-meter run, 9 a.m. for the girls’ discus, 9 a.m. for the boys’ pole vault, 9 a.m. for the girls’ long jump, 9 a.m. for the boys’ long jump, 9:15 a.m. for the boys’ 3,200-meter run, 11 a.m. for the girls’ pole vault, 11 a.m. for the boys’ discus, 11:30 a.m. for the girls’ high jump, 11:30 a.m. for the boys’ high jump, 12:30 p.m. for the girls’ shot put, 1 p.m. for the girls’ triple jump, 1 p.m. for the boys’ triple jump, 2 p.m. for the boys’ shot put, 5 p.m. for the 4x100-meter relays, 5:20 p.m. for the 800-meter run, 5:45 p.m. for the girls’ 100-meter hurdles as well as the boys’ 110-meter hurdles, 6:05 p.m. for the 100-meter dash, 6:25 p.m. for the 4x200-meter relays, 6:45 p.m. for the 400-meter dash, 7:10 p.m. for the 300-meter hurdles, 7:30 p.m. for the 200-meter dash, 7:50 p.m. for the 1,600-meter run, and concluding the state meet after 8:20 p.m. with the 4x400-meter relays.
