Pierian Study Club meets April 14th

The Pierian Study Club met for their monthly meeting on April 14, 2022, at the home of member Debbie Shahan. The Yearbook Committee, composed of Joanne Weik, Chairman, Gale Ivy, Marsha Smart, Celia Bell, Audrey Smith, and Debbie Shahan were hostesses for the meeting.

Debbie’s home was decorated in an Easter theme. Refreshments were Sopapilla Cheesecake, chocolate and Easter candy, two kinds of grapes and fruit infused water.

Members attending were: Marjean Alexander, Donna Baxter, Celia Bell, Gail Bruner, Susan Clark, Jacqueline Carlson, Marcia Dyer, Catherine Hanrahan, Kathleen Hawkins, Gale Ivy, Rhonda Killian, Lynn McHenry, Cydney Pearce, Debbie Shahan, Patty Shaw, Marsha Smart, Audrey Smith, Joanne Weik, and Cissy Williams, along with associate member Anita Adams.

The first order of business was to install new officers for the years 2023-2024. All new officers were presented with a rose gold pen by President Marcia Dyer. Marcia Dyer will serve as President again for the next two years. Other officers are: 1st VP, Joanne Weik; 2nd VP, Cissy Williams; Recording Secretary, Jacqueline Carlson; Corresponding Secretary, Brooke Bagley; Treasurer, Kathleen Hawkins; Historian, Audrey Smith; Reporter, Marsha Smart; Chairman of the Nominating Committee, Celia Bell; and Parliamentarian, Debbie Shahan.

Committee reports: Yearbook Committee Chairman, Joanne Weik, reminded everyone that the Yearbook Committee will be planning programs for the next year this summer, and any suggestions for programs would be appreciated. Projects Committee will be meeting shortly to discuss and select a recipient (s) for club scholarship. Entertainment Chairman Patty Shaw distributed invitations to the end of year function to be held in May. Kathleen Hawkins, Membership Chairman, presented a new club applicant to be voted on.

Several proposed changes to the By-laws were presented to the membership for their vote. All changes were accepted as made.

Members and spouses are invited to an End of the Year Couples Party to be held on May 12 at the home of Betty Jo Miller.
