Beginning the week of December 1, 2025 (weather permitting), TxDOT’s contractor, Allen Keller, will begin an $11 million construction project on SH 16. The work zone will extend from 0.4 miles south of CR 140 to just prior to the Colorado River Bridge.
This project will increase safety and mobility along the corridor by adding passing lanes, safety improvements, along with pavement structure repair and surfacing.
During construction, the speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph with a wide load restriction of 10 feet width maximum in the work zone. It is anticipated that work will be completed in Summer 2026, weather permitting.
Motorists are asked to use caution when driving in this area, avoid distractions, obey posted speed limits and warning signs, and to watch for crews and equipment entering and exiting the work zone.
