The Old Hen and Her Baby

It was tuff from the start because she tried to sit on some eggs in the hen house. The other hens tried to keep her out of the nest and lay their eggs in there. The nest became so crowded with eggs we had to clean it out.

We marked her eggs so we could tell which ones were hers and the day finally came for the eggs to hatch but to our dismay only one egg hatched. I heard some loud peeping and found the baby chick on the floor and the other chickens were pecking on it. We picked up mother and baby and put them in a little cage by the house but shortly a big storm blew up and it rained.

We thought they would not survive the storm but afterwards there the hen was snuggled on the ground with her little baby safe and sound under her. That reminded me of something the Bible teaches. God loves us very much, (John 3:16, Romans 5:8) and when we enter into that special relationship of knowing Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior there are some blessings that go along with it (1 Peter 1:3-9, Psalm 91:1-16).

Jesus will protect us and watch over us no matter what (Psalm 4:6-8, 2 Timothy 2:19). Not only Jesus, but His angels also protect us,(Matthew 18:10). See you in Church next Sunday.
