No. 2 Richland Springs 79, Rochelle 30 in District opener

    The Coyotes were too much for the Hornets in the 16-1A DII opener for both teams in Richland Springs.

    Jadeyn Bryant rushed for four TDs and passed for three more while also scoring on a kickoff return and returning a fumble for a TD to lead No. 2 Richland Springs.

    Cohen Tharp had two TD catches for the Coyotes while Zane Capps rushed for a TD and passed for one. Keston Lusty also had a TD run.

    Richland Springs outscored Rochelle 35-8 in the first quarter and led 57-16 at halftime before putting the game away in the third quarter.

    Jason Cox passed for 152 yards and two TDs to lead Rochelle. Dylan Mendez caught two TD passes while Dylan Riner and Merek Howell each caught a TD pass. Kelton Williams and Tony Soto each threw a TD pass for the Hornets.

    Richland Springs (4-1, 1-0) travels to Cherokee next Friday while Rochelle (5-2, 0-1) hosts Lohn.
