Last week, our junior high football team played an excellent game against Lohn. Of the game, Coach Newman reports, “The team did very well as a whole. The Indians were led by Case Koerner who played well on offense and defense. These young men continue to show improvement from week to week. We are proud of them.” We are excited to see what these boys do this week as they take on Rochelle for the last game of the season. The varsity Indians will play Rochelle on Friday night here in Cherokee.

Last week also marked the week of benchmarks for all grade levels. These tests give teachers valuable information about what students have mastered thus far and what skills still need work. If you have not had a conference with your child’s teacher yet this year, this would be a great time to schedule one to discuss your student’s progress.

We ended the week on a high note with our 3rd annual Rock Your School Day! This is a day started by the Get Your Teach On movement. It is a day dedicated to student engagement, staff involvement, and out of the box thinking. Teachers were inspired to think of ways to present their class materials in a fun and exciting way. Grade levels also dressed in the decade of their choosing and the group with the most participation (100%) was K-2. They won a pizza party provided by our PTC.

Our PTC is an organization that provides so many wonderful opportunities for our teachers and students. The PTC’s biggest fundraiser of the year is the Fall Festival which is coming up on Saturday, October 30th. Costume contest registration will begin at 4:30 p.m. At 5:00 p.m., games will begin, and the meal will be served. We will enjoy a night of fun until dark when we will all break up and go trick or treating in town. Be aware that we will also have a silent auction full of amazing items. We hope to see you there!
