Last week our Indians had a big win against Bluff Dale. They came into the game knowing it would be the best matchup yet. Both teams were 3-0 prior to play. The Indians snagged the win with a final score of 84-44. The junior high guys played well, too. They also ended up with a win of 51-26 over Bluff Dale.

The junior high cross country team represented us well in Lometa last week. For the girls, Lily Graves placed 5th. Kensley Seay placed 7th. Taylor Randolph placed 9th, and Preslee Duggan placed 15th. Ella Graves placed 26th, and Hannah Sims placed 27th. The girls placed 4th overall. For the boys, Weston Woolsey placed 2nd. Brian Chia placed 3rd. Jaxon White placed 7th. Gabriel Swinney placed 11th. Robert Sawyer placed 12th. Preston Hanley placed 14th. Uriah Valdez placed 21st, and Franky Penney placed 22nd. The boys placed 1st as a team.

So far this year, our elementary students have been getting back into the routine of school. They have been learning routines and procedures both in the classroom and elsewhere in the school. One routine that you can support at home is daily reading. A reader can only get better at reading by reading. They must practice daily. Students may read by reading aloud, reading silently, and being read to.

Reading can be a bonding time with your child as well. Please support your student’s literacy but spending 10-20 minutes a day dedicated to reading (even on the weekends!)

Last week in the elementary edition of the announcements, Kyson Shanklin was interviewed by Mandi Fry about his love of football. Thanks, Kyson, for telling us about your passion!

Report cards are going out this week, so be on the lookout for those. Please discuss the results with your students and touch base with your student’s teachers if you have any questions or concerns. Open House is coming up on the 29th of September. Mark your calendars!
