Major Auto Parts celebrates newly renovated store with ribbon cutting

Mark Major, along with his wife Ginny, opened his automotive repair center (Major Automotive) in September of 1988 in Goldthwaite and in 2012 purchased the family's first auto parts store next door to the shop from Joe Brooks. For him it was a natural progression of growing the company, and purchasing a local business from a family friend just made sense. In 2014, Mark and Ginny's daughter Brooke Sides moved home to join the family business by managing the parts store.

When doors opened in 2018 to purchase the parts store in San Saba from Lynn Hamrick, it was the perfect opportunity. Owning multiple stores is the ideal situation and with Goldthwaite and San Saba being so close it couldn't have been a better second location, especially with Brooke being five months pregnant with her first baby at the time the papers were signed. 2018 was a whirlwind of changing the current Parts Plus to a NAPA, getting things organized, and taking care of a newborn. At the time of the purchase, it was very apparent that the building needed a lot of work. The showroom was small (and the bathroom was tiny), and there were several other issues with the building. We knew that renovation was absolutely necessary, but like always, life tends to get in the way.

In the Spring of 2025 with all of the wind storms however the metal sheeting was pulled from the front of the building, and it was apparent we could no longer put off the renovation. We remodeled the metal storage space on the east side of the building with new metal and insulation to create a more climate controlled warehouse space, then refinished the old warehouse to be our beautiful new showroom. The old showroom was almost in disrepair so the best course of action was to tear it down to create a loading zone. I am so excited to show our beautiful new showroom to everyone. People can truly get a feel for the massive amount of inventory we have on hand that customers really just couldn't grasp with our previous showroom.

We are very blessed at how smoothly this renovation has been. We were able to keep the business running the whole time and couldn't have done it without the amazing team of contractors and vendors. Our general contractor was Chad Seward with GK Construction in Goldthwaite and he was able to utilize so many of the amazing businesses we have here locally.
