Looking Ahead to the New Year

Possibly 2020 was not a good year. Maybe our problems were health, lost loved ones, marriage, raising children, finances, jobs, housing, food, or safe neighborhoods, and these are just a few from a long list.

There is so much unrest in our world and even now in our own beloved country. The Covid-19 virus has killed so many here and around the world and greatly affected lifestyles. We have no guarantee of or about the future ourselves. Maybe we should begin the New Year on our knees coming before the Almighty God who is in control and over all (Colossians 1:16). We could humble ourselves and ask Him for mercy, help and protection (Psalm 86:1-11, 102:1&2). We could commit ourselves this New Year to drawing closer to God as a people (2 Chronicles 7:14). Perhaps, we should be spending more time reading our Bibles and time in prayer (Colossians 4:2). If we have not come before God confessing our sins (1 John 1:6-10) and asking God to forgive us and asking Jesus to be our Lord and Savior (John 3:16-21), then we will not have God’s full blessings if we have not made that decision.

May we seek and find the wonderful and bountiful blessing of a loving God (Deuteronomy 11:26-28). May our lives be filled with the presence of God and His love and may that be passed on to our families, local communities, churches and our nation this year.

See you in church next Sunday.
