On Saturday, October 1st, Keep San Saba Beautiful (KSSB), in partnership with the City of San Saba, held a fall city-wide cleanup. KSSB, an affiliate of Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB), joins other Texas affiliates each fall during the “Fall Sweep” cleanup campaign to help keep Texas beautiful as we do our part through keeping this community cleaner. These cleanups are possible because of our volunteers. They help pick up trash, clean on and around their own property, or help re-cycle. Some volunteers collected trash along the highways, around neighborhoods, at the parks and waterways, and various places in the community. Others gathered trash and unwanted items from around their own property and transferred it to the Recycling Center. Still, others assisted by participating in the plastic beverage bottles recycling challenge. Volunteers’ efforts yielded approximately 5,000 pounds of trash and helped in the recycling process of about 37 tires and several pounds of plastic beverage bottles.
As a small token of appreciation, volunteers had the opportunity to win prizes, to receive a free T-shirt, and to enjoy a delicious hamburger meal. KSSB applauds Atmos Energy for sponsoring our efforts and to our volunteers for their dedication, hard work, and helping Keep San Saba Beautiful.
