Gardening on the Llano Uplift presents its own unique gardening methods. The Llano County Master Gardeners can help newcomers, as well as seasoned Llano gardeners, adapt to up-to-date gardening techniques for Llano County. One way to increase one’s knowledge is to become a certified Gardener. Certification classes are offered every other year and the class of 2023 begins in February.
If you love plants and enjoy learning, you are a great candidate for the Llano County Master Gardener Certification Program! You do not have to be a garden expert, just come with a desire to learn, and grow.
So, what is a Llano County Master Gardener, you might ask. The program is composed of members of our community who take an active interest in their lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, and gardens. They are willing to learn, to help others, and can communicate their knowledge to others.
To help you decide if you should apply to be certified as a Master Gardener, ask yourself the following questions:
• Do I want to learn more about the culture and maintenance of the types of plants that thrive in Llano County?
• Am I eager to participate in a practical and intense training program?
• Do I look forward to sharing my knowledge with people in my community?
• Do I have enough time to attend training and to complete volunteer service?
If you answered yes to these questions, then the Master Gardener Certification Program is for you.
The 2023 Certification Program begins with the first class on February 6 at 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The regular weekly classes start February 7 from 9 – 1 and each Tuesday thereafter for 10 weeks. There will be a make-up class on April 18. The class will bring in guest speakers on various topics and several field trips are planned to Enchanted Rock, Bamburger Ranch, and San Antonio Botanical Gardens. Don’t miss this unique opportunity.
