Yesterday at our 11 o’clock morning worship service, a little boy dog appeared outside the sanctuary doors. Yes, he was extremely hot, dirty, skinny and distraught looking. We had no idea where he came from. He wasn’t a big dog and seemed friendly.
At one point, he even darted into the sanctuary but very quickly was put outside. I noticed one man took an interest in him, and I did not see what happened.
That little dog demonstrated to me more sense than many people. The little dog was in great trouble and needed immediate help. So where did he go? To a local Church! Oh, if only people would do that. A local Church can help people in many ways. They may feed you, put clothes on your back, help you find a job, befriend you, pray for you, but most importantly they help you in your relationship to a Holy God.
The Bible says a lot about getting help.
Our main problem may be sin and no relationship to Jesus Christ.
John 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,...
We all start life separated from God.
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Hebrews 9:27 And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.
And unless something is done about it, we will die that way and spend eternity in the Lake of Fire.
Revelation 20:11-15 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
God has done lots to help us, ( Luke 19:10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”; John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.; Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.), but we must seek Him.
Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
Proverbs 8:17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.
See you in Church next Sunday.
