Lady Dillos Powerlifting stellar at State meet, March 16th, in Corpus

The San Saba High School girls varsity powerlifting team was superb on Wednesday, March 16, as the Lady Dillos had five great student-athletes compete at the 2022 THSWPA State Championship meet held down in Corpus Christi. Two girls medaled while the other three placed in at least the top 10 of their respective weight classes.

In a highly competitive 97-pound division, San Saba’s own Makinzey Saldivar placed second as she lifted 640 total pounds with 275 on the squat, 145 pounds on the bench press, and 220 on the deadlift. Saldivar was just five pounds off from a first-place finish behind the 645 pounds lifted from Annabel Rosas of Seagraves High School. In the 220-pound division, Austyn Graham placed third as she lifted 980 total pounds with 405 on the squat, 225 on the bench press, and 350 on the deadlift.
