Well it is getting close to that time of the year. I previously lived in a place out in the country where it was very easy to become disoriented if you left the house in foggy weather. Thankfully, that only happened a few times.
I have also found myself in a similar situation in my Christian life or walk a few times. I can’t explain why; I just know it happens. We might be going to church regularly, reading our Bibles daily, praying and doing everything God says to do to the best of our ability, and still seemingly losing touch with God.
We want to keep fellowship with God above everything else.
Psalm 119:33-37 Teach me, O Lord, the way of your statutes; and I will keep it to the end.
Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart.
Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it.
Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to selfish gain!
Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways.
2 Kings 10:31 But Jehu was not careful to walk in the law of the Lord, the God of Israel, with all his heart. He did not turn from the sins of Jeroboam, which he made Israel to sin.
When in that Spiritual fog, my soul seems empty; the strong joy and peace are not there.
One very important thing, we have to learn to be patient and wait on God just as the children of Israel did in the desert.
Exodus 40:35-38 And Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. Throughout all their journeys, whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out. But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not set out till the day that it was taken up. For the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day, and fire was in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel throughout all their journeys.
I usually come around to spending more quiet time seeking God.
Deuteronomy 4:29 But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Deuteronomy 6:4-7 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. (See also 1 Kings 8:54-61) I spend more time reading my Bible, and praying. Sometimes, I am not in the fog for long, and at other times it may be awhile.
Usually God is trying to show me something or teaching me to look for and wait for Him.
Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Oh, what a joy when the fog clears!
Psalm 119:1-3 Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord!
Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways!
See you in Church next Sunday. Brother J
