Hill Country CattleWomen awards Presentation

The Hill Country CattleWomen met at Tres Molinas Resort in Harper on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, for their final meeting of the season. Annual awards were presented to CattleWomen, Diane Staudt and Christie McAllister, both 5th generation family cattle ranch owners in Gillespie and Mason counties respectively. Diane was awarded CattleWoman of the Year for her hard work and dedication to the organization thru the years. Diane has been a CattleWoman since 2009 and has served as the Gillespie County Chairperson for many years. On the Executive Committee, she has held the offices of 1st Vice President - Publicity, and 2nd Vice President - Beef Education. She served as a member of the Style Show and then the Roundup Committees. Her strength and leadership abilities, along with her warm, fun nature, exemplify what it means to be a true CattleWoman. Christi McAllister was presented the Behind the Scenes CattleWoman of the Year Award. Joining The Cattle-Women in 2020, she immediately was appointed Historian because of her active memberships in the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Daughters of theAmerican Revolution organizations. She has since stepped up to take on the role of Treasurer and will continue to do so in the upcoming year. Christi's excellent organization and bookkeeping skills keep the Cattlewomens' funds straight. Awarding scholarship monies to student recipients is also one of her many duties. She is always the bright smiling face to greet the ladies as they enter their monthly luncheon meetings. The Cattle-Women are grateful and honored to have both of these ladies as dedicated members of The Hill Country CattleWomen.

Also on the agenda for the meeting were Gillespie County Eclipse Task Force Co-chairs, Justin Calhoun, Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Fredericksburg/Gillespie County, and Jennifer Krupa, Assistant Parks Director/Special Events Coordinator for the City of Fredericksburg presenting information on preparations for the upcoming eclipse events and information on protecting ranches and families including protecting property from trespassers, protecting livestock, and what to do in the event of an emergency.
