The Texas 4-H Water Ambassadors Program is currently accepting applications for the 2021 summer session through May 15. This leadership academy takes students on a whirlwind tour across the state to learn about all aspects of water in Texas. With more than 30 stops along the way, the program introduces students to water law, policy, management, hydrology, conservation, and water use from agricultural to municipal. This year the tour will run from June 27 to July 1.
Water ambassadors must be dedicated, mature, dependable students who are in high school or entering high school in the 2021/2022 academic year, be 14 or older by August 31, 2021, and be a current member of 4-H or be willing to join 4-H if selected.
Those who are selected are expected to commit to 40 hours of education and service over the next year, work with their local county extension agent, report to the 4-H2O Program Coordinator and pay the $250 participation fee. The Hickory UWCD is offering scholarships to eligible students to cover that $250 fee. To learn more about the scholarships, contact our office at hickoryuwcd@yahoo.com or call 325-597-2785.
