Jessica Turner-Allensworth came on board with Heritage Funeral Home as their office manager March 28th of this year. Jessica stated she really enjoys working in San Saba at Heritage, and she really likes the Heritage family.
Even though this is her first experience working in a funeral home, Jessica has many years of experience working with the public in customer service. She noted that the customer service aspect in a funeral home is quite different than in other customer service positions, and it is much more serious. She noted that the exciting part about this job is, "knowing that I can help them, knowing that I can ease the process of grief and what they're going through, help them understand what they need to do." She said that brings her happiness.
As far as her duties at Heritage, Jessica does a lot of paperwork and gets the contracts ready for Savio Martinez, the funeral director, to present to the family. She stated she inputs the information and families' wishes for the service into the computer. She said she also helps Savio at the services in getting things ready. She is definitely his righthand assistant in whatever needs to be done in the office or at the services. Soon, Jessica will also be taking care of the Facebook page for the San Saba branch of Heritage Funeral Home.
Jessica shared she attends the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service online and has completed her first quarter of a four-quarter course with the goal of being a funeral director. Once she has completed the course, as well as the provisional licensing program, Jessica will be eligible to take the national board exam to become a licensed funeral director.
Jessica and her husband moved to Goldthwaite about a year ago from Brownwood. They have one son. As far as her hobbies, Jessica said she loves fishing, camping, going on adventures, and going to state parks. She really enjoys being outdoors.
Jessica’s encouraging words to those who experience deaths in their families: "I want to help the community, to ease their minds that things will be done properly, in a dignified manner, and that the service they are wanting is the one they will be getting. . . which will make them feel happy."
