First Methodist Church gets makeover

It is probably no secret that the First Methodist Church of San Saba has been going through a transition of sorts for nearly a year.

Starting in September of last year, we welcomed our new pastor, Pastor Judy Swarts, and her husband Rick, to our congregation. Judy is a Global Methodist preacher and has been instrumental in guiding our church through its new beginning in the Global Methodist Church, after having left the United Methodist Church some months before.

In addition to welcoming our new pastor, we have also welcomed some new worshippers, including families, to our small, but growing, congregation.

Our youth group is also new but is fun, family-oriented and increasing in numbers. You can hear the sound of children in the pews and even the joyous sounds of babies in our Nursery Room at our Sunday Service, a true indicator of growth and love at our church.

Not only have we made changes in our organizational affiliation, but on a more physical level, we have begun giving the church a new makeover. Air conditioning units, long in need of replacement, have been newly installed and are working great, especially welcome in the hot summer months.

Roof upgrades are scheduled for later this month, and just this week, we began painting the walls and columns of our Sanctuary. Mike Flores, a professional painter from Brady, and his team, have been working diligently caulking, repairing, and painting our church. The super job Mike and his company have been doing is a true blessing, and we are extremely grateful to him for his professionalism and friendship.
