Sometimes we go to the farmer’s market, and I go to the tomato stand. But I am looking for the blemished or rejected tomatoes. They have them set aside and out of the way. When they see me, they say, (go get a sack and get your blems). As one of the workers said, “you are saving me some work because I was going to have to feed them to the hogs.”
They are not free, so I purchase them. Just as Jesus purchased us. I use money, but He used His precious blood when He died on the cross to remove our sins. When I get home, I cut out those blemishes and have a beautiful tomato after I have worked on it.
That reminds me of something in the Bible.
Most people think Jesus came to earth just to Judge. Not so, Jesus said in Luke 19:10 He came to seek and save what was lost. The blemishes you see; we all have blemishes or sin, ( Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,).
If that blemish, sin, is not dealt with it, will be worse than those blemished tomatoes going to the hogs, ( Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.).
Just as those blemished tomatoes are put in my hands and I make something out of them, when we put our lives in the hands of Jesus, He and only He can make something beautiful out of them,.
1 Timothy 1:15 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.
John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
Matthew 26:28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
See you in Church next Sunday.
