On Monday, May 2nd, the Freemasons of San Saba, Order of Eastern Star and the Scottish Rite Club hosted their 30th annual Awards/Seniors Banquet. The 2022 senior class of Cherokee, Richland Springs and San Saba High Schools were in attendance. Sixty-seven people were present and enjoyed a meal of fried fish, fries and beans.
A program was presented by Johnny Clawson, former superintendent of San Saba ISD. He addressed the graduating class concerning integrity and the challenges ahead for young people as they leave home and enter the working world.
Three $1,000.00 Scholarships, accompanied with the Lamar Medal, were presented by Stephen C. Brister, representing the Lodge; Cheryl Stelzer, representing the Order of the Eastern Star; and Jan K. Huffstetler, representing the San Saba Scottish Rite. Each teacher recipient received a $20.00 gift.
