70 Years Ago November 24, 1955
Army Sgt. Maynard R. Myers, son of Mr. and Mrs. George J. Myers, Richland Spgs., took part in a demonstration of maneuverability and fire power in Germany by the 2d Armored Division. Sgt. Myers is a cannoneer in the divisions’s 14th Field Artillery Battalion.
Our wooded area in Wallace Creek has been filled with deer hunters from far and near. Haven’t heard of anyone having much luck except C. B. Lambert Jr. He has gotten his amount for the season. These deer should be plentiful as several have reported them being destructive to the fall crops of hegari.
A 1952 Buick car belonging to Roy Ragsdale was located in Secalia, Mo., when two Llano men were taken into custody there on a charge of larceny. The two men were charged by complaint in San Saba with theft of the car. Posing as prospective buyers, they took the car out on a trial run and failed to return.
W. O. Boultinghouse of Cherokee saw spots in front of his eyes while deer hunting and the spots were really there on a 12-point buck he bagged on the Clyde Estep Jr. place about three miles south of Cherokee. Among theories advanced to explain the deer’s unusual coloration was the possibility that the buck was a cross between the native white-tailed deer and some striped deer placed on the Barnes ranch in the southeastern part of the country.
Apparently a poor navigator, a pelican strayed off-course from his usual coastal habitat and sought the company of some white ducks on the A. J. Walker place at Pecan Grove, on a large tank near the house. He has been there for several days and is fairly tolerant of visitors. Almost solid white with his wings folded, Old Satchel- Mouth shows a black undercoat when he stretches his long wings.

Kevin Keeney, vice president of the San Saba County EMS and James Stewardson, president of the San Saba County Young Farmers were given a Demand Valve Resuscitator purchased by the Young Farmers Organization to be used on a non-breathing patient or a patient who requires assistance in breathing.
Glyn Mitchel of Coahoma will be home to help his dad, Denver Mitchel, with the winter supply of wood for the wood heater. Chain saws have been bussing for several weeks.
The San Saba Armadillos were eliminated from continuing in post-season play as they wee defeated by the McGregor Bulldogs in Copperas Cove by a score of 55-3.
According to San Saba County Sheriff Bill Williams, a burglary which occurred at Everett’s Furniture Store in San Saba is still under investigation by the department with the assistance of Llano Texas Ranger, John Waldrop. Taken in the burglary was a shotgun, rifles, survival knives, stereo and $75 in cash.
2 hour parking signs were installed throughout the city to replace parking meters. Cars are marked by Parking Attendant Bill McHorse at two hour intervals and anyone exceeding the 2-hour parking limit will be ticketed $5 for abuse of the 2-hour limit.
