110 Years Ago December 25, 1913

Crogan B. Ransom and miss Irene Taylor were married at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Taylor, Rev. E. D. Morgan, pastor of the Baptist church, officiating.

The ceremonies of dirt breaking of the new Methodist church will take place Dec. 24th. Rev. J. W. Cowan Presiding Elder of the Lampasas district will make an address. Other prominent men are expected.

Willie Moore is home from San Antonio for the holidays. He is attending the Peacock Military College.

Mr. I. C. Rich and family are here from Snider visiting their relatives, Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Ingram.

THE STAR RESTAURANT South Side Public Square. I have remodeled my place and now it is in first-class condition. I give a first class meal for 35¢ Short Orders a Specialty. Geo. Tomlinson W. V. has been selected as assistant Cashier of the San Saba National Bank and will assume his new duties on the first of the new year. He takes the place of Mr. C. O. Rice, who resigned to move to McDade, Texas where he will go into business.

The Star will take a holiday next week and there will be no paper printed. We will greet our readers again on the 8th of January. We wish a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

The superintendent was directed to reassign Kevy Allred to assist Janie Potts with counseling. They hired Carolyn Weyerts to fill Allred's position as High School Social Studies teacher to the end of the school year. Allred will continue to coach in addition to assisting Mrs. Potts with counseling.

Jesus and Pilar Rosales announce the birth of their son, Dominic Jesus. He was born Dec. 20, weighed 7 lbs. 15-3/4 oz. and was 20-1/2 inches long.

The Hickory Underground Water Conservation District's Annual Water Theme Art Contest was conducted in November. Entries were received from five different area schools. The Grand Champion in the 1993 Water Theme Art Contest was Diana Calderon, a fourth grader at San Saba Elementary School. Third place was awarded to fourth grader Adam Torres, also from San Saba Elementary.

Monty and Mitchell Riggs of Riggs Feed and Fertilizer of San Saba, were presented an award for the dealership's sales increase over the previous year. Presenting the award is Art Dean, President and General Manager of Evergreen Mill, Inc.
