Despite the fact that Texas has more varieties of native grapes than any other state, and the soil and climate of Texas is better adapted than any other state for the culture of grapes, this crop has never been established on a large commercial basis.

West Point, New York––Jas. H. Watkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Watkins of San Saba, Texas, who was sworn in as a Cadet in the United Stated Military Academy here on July 1st, has been assigned to 3rd Company, New Cadet Class, by Brigadier General Jay L. Benedict, Superintendent. He is one of a group of 562 new Cadets who have just been enrolled in the 1943 class.

At high noon Sunday in the ballroom of Hotel San Saba some 200 guests witnessed the double marriage ceremony of two young daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Landau, when Miss Selma Landau became the bride of Stanford Albert Weiner of San Antonio and Galveston and Miss Mildred Landau became the bride of Sidney Harold Pearlman of San Antonio with Rabbi Charles Blumenthal of Waco reading the ceremony in both Greek and English.
