"The comfort of the entire family will be assured during the coming cold weather without delay if you have your gas heating equipment inspected and adjusted now for the winter use," A.A. Rasener, Lone Star Gas Company manager, indicated today.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Burnham are the parents of a son, Reagan, seven pounds and six ounces, born September 29.

Gary Byrd, a student at the University of Texas, in Austin, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Byrd.

Miss Glenda Colwell of Austin spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Colwell.

Native Pecans are being brought to market at R.B. Bagley & Sons Pecan house, with a total of about 11,000 pounds bought by noon Friday, Sept. 30. Johnnie Franklin and Raymond Jones were the first two pecan growers to bring pecans to sell.

Mr. and Mrs. Russell Moses and children, Bruce and Trudy, came Friday night for a weekend visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Oliver.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Johnson and children, Brady Marcus and Jeriann, of Alpine came Friday for a visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irby Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Owen Jr. Mrs. Johnson and children remained for a weeks visit with Jerry returned Sunday afternoon to attend his college classes at Sul Ross.

D.A. McGary of Locker was in San Saba Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Shapiro and Francine, Howard and Edward, spent the weekend in Austin with his brother, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Shapiro and family and all observed a Jewish Holiday.

October 9, 1980

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Saucillo of Shephenville are parents of a daughter, Tanya Amanda, born Sept. 28 in Scott & White Hospital at Temple. She weighed two pounds, 14 1/2 ounces. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Marcos Gomez of San Saba. The paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Sipriano Saucillo, also of San Saba.

Richland Springs High School Student Council has elected offcers for the year. They are Gwenell McKinnerney, president; Kelly Berry, vice-president; Connie Smith, secretary-treasurer; and Jana O'Neal, reporter.

San Saba's postmaster Jack Drewry retired from the U.S. Postal Service this week, after 37 total years of service. Drewry has been postmaster in San Saba for over 5 years. D.E. Holster, sectional center manager for the U.S. Postal Service at the Midland MSC, presented Drewry with a letter from the USPS, which has and Mrs. Drewry read in a short ceremony Tuesday afternoon at the post offce in San Saba. Jimmy C. Riley will be the offcer in charge at the local facility until a new postmaster is named in the coming months.

Several local apparel shops are featuring models each Wednesday at the Bar-B-Que Shack during the noon hour. Models are showing various fashions available in San Saba. The Lady Bug, The Style Center, Pecan Valley Western Wear, Mrs. Lige Ann Stewardson and Nan's Way feature many items for local shoppers. The Wednesday style shows at the Bar-B-Que Shack restaurant on the Goldthwaite Highway will continue through the upcoming holiday shopping season.

Heartland Mall is opening on a 27-acre site located at the Cisco Highway (US 183) and Early Boulevard (US 67 and 377) in Early/Brownwood. K-Mart, J.C. Penney and Bealls are the three department stores which have previously been announced for Heartland Mall. Besides the department stores which have been announced, Heartland Mall will contain approximately 40 additional stores.
