Siege of Bexar (December 9, 1835) The Siege of Bexar became the first major campaign of the Texas Revolution. From October until early December of 1835, a army of Texas volunteers laid siege to the Mexican army in San Antonio de Bexar. The defeated General Cos was forced to retreat back to Mexico. His return with Santa Anna resulted in the 1836 historic battle at the Alamo and massacre of the Texian forces.
