David Jenkins

I am a 6th generation Texan and was raised in a farming family near San Angelo. I married the love of my life Cherri in 1973. We raised 2 beautiful daughters and gained 2 great sons-in-law. We have 4 wonderful grandchildren.

During my younger days, I worked as a cowboy on local ranches and in the feedlots of the Texas panhandle. I served in the Texas Army National Guard as a Calvary Scout for 7 years and ranked E5 Sergeant. I have an honorable discharge. I began working in the plumbing trades and received my Master Plumber’s License. I owned and operated a plumbing business in Kerrville, Texas, for several years.

I eventually decided to make a career change to law enforcement. I graduated from Southwest Texas Junior College with a Basic Peace Officer Certificate in 1987 and immediately began my law enforcement career at the Kerrville Police Department. By 2001, I was ready to get back to my farm and ranch roots. I took a position as a Deputy Sheriff in San Saba County and purchased a small ranch in Richland Springs. I began raising cow calf pairs, Dorper sheep and currently raise beef steers. You may find me on a tractor helping my neighbors cut and bail hay or working cattle.

In my spare time I may be found fishing at our stock tank or riding around the ranch with my best buddy Pinto. I enjoy watching my grandchildren participate in their sports and activities.

My quiet time is spent on the back porch with my wife watching the sunset. I am a longtime member of Shiloh Bible Church. Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. My goals are to continue serving San Saba County as your Sheriff and keep our community a safe place to raise our families.

God Bless you all, Sheriff David L. Jenkins
