Central Texas College (CTC) recently announced courses in the school’s real estate program are now listed on the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) website as qualifying courses for those seeking a real estate license. Upon completing CTC’s five real estate courses, students are eligible to take the Texas real estate sales agent license exam. After completing the internship course, students can then graduate with a Certificate of Completion in business management real estate sales agent.

“TREC has always accepted CTC courses as qualified training for the licensure exam,” said Angela Reese, CTC online manager/ program coordinator/professor - Business Management, Business Administration and Paralegal. “Now being listed on their website makes it easy for students to find the required courses, enables students to prepare and map out a course schedule and also provides students with assurance the classes in our real estate program will give them the necessary and required training to take the state licensing exam.”

The CTC courses listed on the TREC website students need to qualify for the licensing exam are Law of Agency, Law of Contracts, Principles of Real Estate I, Principles of Real Estate II, Promulgated Contract Forms and Real Estate Finance. These courses along with the internship lead to a Certificate of Completion.

“Upon completing the certificate program, students can apply these courses to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in business management real estate specialization,” said Reese. “CTC offers property management, principles of selling, a real estate internship and other related courses as part of the associate degree program. “Both programs are designed to give students an in-depth, wellrounded approach to a career in real estate.”

The CTC real Estate program also includes an internship for both the certificate and degree programs. “The internship provides students real-world application in real estate,” said Anthony Rodriguez, CTC adjunct real estate faculty member.

“Students will intern at a real estate agency and get a first-hand look at the job which will enable them to acquire more skills and enhance their employment opportunities. The program is designed to help students with a business plan, scheduling and prospecting and also help the student leave the classroom with a realistic plan for success. While the internship is required to complete the CTC program, it is not required for the licensing exam.”
