The 4th six weeks grading period ended on Friday, February 12. Because of the winter storm and limited travel the 4th six week’s report cards may be a little late. Parents should receive students’ grades the first week of March. If you do not receive report cards, please contact the school. Parent involvement is key to academic success!

Coach Rogers is proud of the varsity boys basketball team as they advanced to the bidistrict round of the playoffs. They defeated Blanket at Brookesmith Gym last week and advanced to the Area round. The Coyotes then played Lingleville at Brownwood Gym. The Coyotes lost 74-36 in the Area matchup against a good Lingleville team. Congratulations to Coach Shawn Rogers and the Varsity boys on a great season! As winter varsity sports come to an end, spring varsity sports begin. Tennis begins March 4 at Santa Anna. Varsity boys and girls golf teams began practicing for the District tournament at San Saba Golf Course. Junior high and high school track will soon begin as basketball playoffs end. Richland Springs ISD will host the UIL Academic Speech and Debate competition on March 29th.

The Richland Springs Drama Club continues to prepare for academic UIL OAP competition. The old saying “Practice makes perfect,” really rings true in theatre. Richland Springs students help host clinics at our school, and they normally travel to clinics at other area schools. Kris Andrews conducted a clinic at Richland Spring ISD on Thursday, February 25th. Icy weather conditions have hampered travel to practice clinics, but the ‘show must go on’. The One Act Play District meet is March 5th at Lometa ISD. Break a leg!

I am always amazed by our teachers, coaches and staff who go above and beyond the call of duty to make students successful. They build relationships with students, provide extra tutoring, and help students outside the normal school hours. We need to acknowledge these people. The world would be a much easier - kinder - place to live, if we all got to experience the power of acknowledgment: knowing that we matter and that we just did something that made a positive difference in someone's life. You will see a synergizing effect over the entire school population. The small school setting provides this type of atmosphere conducive to building school pride, and to achieving student success in every student. Working together, we achieve student success, and as students become successful, they can pass it on to the next generation.

The Board of Trustees cordially invites parents to attend board meetings. There is a public forum at the beginning of board meetings that allows for public input. Your input is always welcomed, appreciated, and respected.

If you see a teacher, a coach, or a staff member, tell them how much you appreciate their efforts. We have a great community, students, teachers and staff.

Community involvement is the key to our success!
