The above case counts are more reliable than numbers reported by the state since these numbers are assembled and verified by the Emergency Management Coordinator and Dr. Whiting.
According to Dr. Whiting, persons with positive cases can exhibit signs and symptoms of the disease processes for weeks after recovery. Thus, when these symptoms disappear, the positive case is considered recovered. In order to enhance recovery and protect themself and others, the positive person should place themselves in quarantine for 10 days after a positive test.
Moreover, if a person has been in contact with someone who has tested positive, then they also need to selfquarantine for 10 days from the date of contact. After 10 days of quarantine, a person who has no fever (less than 100.4 deg, according to CDC website) for 72 hours and is feeling much improved is considered recovered from the virus.
Until there is an effective, safe vaccine or treatment for COVID-19, the importance of physical distance, hand washing and wearing a mask to protect yourself and your fellow citizens cannot be over emphasized.
Brownwood, Texas will have a Mobile Testing Site for Wednesday, August 12th. These will be held at the Coggin Intermediate School parking lot. The link is www.tdem. texas.gov and the scheduling will become active 24 hours prior to the start of the testing.
At the Brownwood site, they are saying you do NOT have to have symptoms; they will NOT test anyone under the age of 5; and they are requesting that you DO NOT eat or drink anything for 20 minutes prior to your testing appointment.
