Some very special guests were in attendance as the Commissioners’ Court met in the District Courtroom on September 12, 2022. Ms. Boultinghouse, science teacher at Llano Christian Academy, noted that most of these students have had a civics class. Their civics teacher wanted them to come on this field trip where they could learn and could support her as she gave a presentation to the Court on The Dark Sky which addressed light pollution.

Before Judge Theodosis proceeded with the opening prayer and the pledges to the American and Texas flag, Judge Theodosis welcomed the students, stated he was delighted to have them there, and explained a few things: The courtroom is a serious place, and it should be treated with reverence and seriousness. Even though everyone likes to joke around, the courtroom is not the place for that.

The Judge introduced Jody Fauley who is to take over as Judge next January.

Next, the Judge explained that our county is divided up into four precincts, each having their own elected commissioner. The four commissioners and the Judge together make up the Commissioners Court. “It is our job to determine the taxing rate necessary to run the county government as well as wages and other administrative functions. The commissioners are also responsible for the roads in their precinct.”

The following introductions of elected officials were made: James Lebow - Precinct 1 Commissioner. He told the students he graduated from high school in Llano.

Ricky Lusty - Precinct 2 Commissioner. He stated his precinct includes Richland Springs area.

Kenley Kroll - Precinct 3 Commissioner. He noted his precinct includes Cherokee, Fredonia area.

Pat Poole - Precinct 4 Commissioner. He said his precinct includes the Bend area.

Kim Wells - County/District Clerk David Jenkins - Sheriff, Tax collector/DMV Lois VanBeck - County Treasurer Randy Robinson - San Saba County Attorney Sharon Blossman - Justice of the Peace Marsha Hardy - Emergency Management Coordinator. The judge noted she also wears many other hats including FloodPlain, Indigent Health, and FEMA. She works for both county and city government.

Reid Daly - Chief Deputy The Judge explained that he would take extra time with this Commissioners’ Court meeting to help the students understand exactly what was going on in the Commissioners’ Court.
