Pfluger: Border Crisis Continues to Hit Home

Friday, April 30th, U.S. Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) blasted the Biden Administration upon learning that 33 Guatemalan citizens were found inside a home in Midland, Texas, by the Department of Homeland Security:

“I am absolutely infuriated by the news that 33 Guatemalan citizens were found in a home inside the Midland city limits. Make no mistake—this is no longer a crisis at the border, this is an infiltration of our communities and our country. Over two million illegal immigrants are expected to cross the U.S.-Mexico border and be released into the interior of the country unvetted by the end of this fiscal year. Communities like ours are already paying the price.

“There is no question that President Biden’s reckless actions have incentivized the massive surge to our south ern border, and his refusal to acknowledge and address the crisis is putting American families at risk. I am again imploring President Biden and Vice President Harris to acknowledge the severity of the crisis, to come to the border and affected communities like Midland, and take immediate action to secure the safety of American families.”

Pfluger Responds to Biden’s Socialist Joint Address

Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) released a statement following President Joe Biden’s Wednesday, April 28th, address to a Joint Session of Congress:

“Tonight, President Biden outlined his plans to radically change America and push us farther down the path of socialism. The enormous federal programs he proposed will raise taxes, increase our Nation’s dependence on the welfare state, and further centralize control in Washington, D.C. He spoke of bipartisanship and discussion, yet over and over again, Republicans in Congress have been blocked from participating in an open, transparent debate to speak up for our constituents.

“Even more telling was that President Biden’s remarks were completely void of any mention of the humanitarian disaster on our southern border. Yet again, he completely brushed off the real suffering our communities are undergoing as a result of his administration weakening our border and incentivizing illegal immigration.

“I will continue doing what’s right for the people in the 11th District of Texas, who understand that this country is the best Nation in the world, and no one knows better how to care for those in our communities than those who live and work here.

“We must stand firm in protecting our freedoms for our children and future generations.”

Pfluger Pushes President Biden to Reconsider His Devastating Taxes for American Farm Families

Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) joined over 130 House Republicans in sending a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy opposing the Biden Administration’s proposal to repeal stepped-up basis from the tax code and require payment of capital gains taxes at death.

“President Biden’s plan to eliminate stepped-up basis allowances and impose a death tax will deal a devastating blow to rural America,” said Congressman Pfluger. “His proposal will heap massive tax burdens on farm and ranch families, who are already struggling through an over five-year farm recession. American agriculture is paramount to National Security, which is why I am urging President Biden to immediately reconsider this proposal and ensure farm families can continue producing the food and fiber we need to clothe and feed our Nation and the world.”

Pfluger Statement on Killing of Two Concho County Sheriff’s Deputies

Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) released a statement after two Concho County Sheriff’s deputies in the line of duty Monday (May 10th) night:

“Camille and I are absolutely devastated by the news that two of our Concho County Sheriff’s deputies were killed in the line of duty last night in Eden. These officers protected the community until the very end—defending our freedoms, values, and safety. Though we are unable to thank them for their sacrifice, we will never stop honoring their legacy and service.

“I’ve spoken with Judge Dillard, Mayor Torres, and Sheriff Miller to offer my condolences. My office stands ready to provide any support that we can.

“We join with our Concho County neighbors in mourning the loss of these heroes. Please keep our entire law enforcement community in your prayers.”
