Pfluger Blasts Democrats’ $3.5 Trillion Budget Blowout

Wednesday, August 11th, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) released a statement rebuking the Senate Democrats’ $3.5 trillion reckless tax-and-spend budget blueprint chockfull of socialist policies and mandates:

“The Democrats’ outlandish $3.5 trillion package will harm our economy, fuel inflation, impose crippling tax hikes on small businesses and American families, provide amnesty for illegal immigrants, result in the largest welfare state expansion in our lifetime, and implement Green New Deal policies that will devastate our critical energy and agriculture sectors.

“Green special interest groups may benefit from this legislative bonanza, but hardworking Texans will not. Republicans will continue to fight this unprecedented tax-and-spend agenda so that Americans won’t have to face the consequences of this big-government experiment gone wrong.”

Pfluger Urges: Protect Afghani's Stranded in Uzbekistan

Tuesday, August 16th, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11), released the following statement:

“There are nearly 600 Afghan pilots, servicemembers, and their families stranded in Uzbekistan, including family members of TX-11 constituents. The Uzbek government is under immense pressure from the Taliban to repatriate these individuals back to Afghanistan to face reprisals. The United States must provide all necessary resources to assist the Uzbek government and prevent these Afghanis from being subjected to the brutal Taliban regime. I stand ready to work with anyone across our government to ensure our promises to these brave men and women are kept and protect them from harm’s way.”

Pfluger Excoriates Democrats’ Shady $3.5 Trillion Budget Scheme

Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) issued a statement on August 24th, after Washington Democrats approved Senator Bernie Sanders’ $68 trillion budget—triggering a partisan reconciliation process to allow for $3.5 trillion in a new socialist spending spree and tax increase on all Americans, without holding an actual up and down vote on the budget:

“Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats used a shady scheme to pass over $3.5 trillion in their spending agenda that will hurt the economy, kill jobs, and enact liberal wish-list policies without actually passing the budget on its own merits. Democrat leadership is doing nothing but driving our country into crisis after crisis, and this budget is no exception, as it puts us on course towards skyhigh inflation and catastrophic debt levels. I am vehemently opposed to the misguided policies in the budget that provide amnesty for illegal migrants, expand the welfare state, and enact socialist Green New Deal policies that will devastate the oil and gas industry.”

Background – The Democrats’ budget calls for:

• $68 trillion in spending over 10 years – a $4.2 trillion increase over the current spending trajectory and the highest sustained spending level in American history. When combined with what House Democrats have already spent since gaining the majority in 2019, the total adds up to more than the total taxes paid by all Americans in U.S. history.

• $17 trillion in new debt – more than the value of every economy in the world, except the United States. Under this budget, in 10 years, America will spend $1 trillion per year to pay the interest on the national debt – more than what the federal government will spend on Medicare this year and more than the national defense budget in 2031.

• Trillions in new spending and taxes that will exacerbate inflation, drive the cost of goods and services even higher and undermine wages. In July, consumer prices rose 5.4 percent from a year earlier, putting them on pace to rise for the year at their fastest rate since 1981.

Pfluger: President Biden is Abandoning Americans

Tuesday, August 24th, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) released a statement condemning President Biden’s decision not to extend the August 31st deadline to remove U.S. troops from Afghanistan:

“President Biden’s decision to commit to the Taliban’s dictated August 31st Afghanistan withdrawal deadline means he is signing the death warrants of countless Americans and allies who will be left behind. It is utterly unacceptable that the commander and chief of the greatest military force in the world is allowing the Taliban, a group of terrorist thugs, to order the evacuation of our own citizens. Instead of conveying American strength, he has forever tarnished our country's global reputation, legitimized a brutal regime, and left the lives of American citizens in the hands of executioners.”
