The San Saba Commissioners’ Court met for a special called meeting on Monday, March 14th, in the Commissioners’ Courtroom. Judge Byron Theodosis called the meeting to order at 9:58 a.m. Commissioner Kenley Kroll gave the invocation and led everyone in the pledge to the American flag and Texas flag.
Audience for Concerned Citizens:
Chief Deputy Shaw updated the Court on the consoles for the jail. He shared the good news that he found lower prices and noted he will continue to work on the project.
Special Action Items:
1. Consider and Possibly Amend San Saba County Subdivision Regulations:
County Attorney Robinson addressed the Court with possible amendments to the Subdivision Regulations in reference to County Streets.
Decision: After discussion, the Court voted unanimously to Approve the Amended San Saba County Subdivision Regulations.
2. Discuss and Take Action on COVID-19:
Decision: It was decided to remove COVID-19 from the agenda.
3. Take Possible Action Concerning Burn Ban (Current Status: Burn Ban IN EFFECT as of 02-14-22; EXPIRES 05- 15-2022):
Decision: This item was tabled.
4. Approve or Reject Proposed Amendments and/or Line Item Transfers:
Ms. VanBeck presented three Line Item Transfers.
Decision: The Court voted unanimously to approve the three Line Item transfers
5. Approve or Reject Proposed Accounts Payable:
There were two exceptions: A library utility bill was added, and a florist bill was removed. The florist bill was for flowers sent to a McCulloch County funeral when the Sheriff’s son was murdered. It was decided that the sending of these flowers was the right thing to do and was important, but this money should not come from the taxpayers. The Judge, Commissioners, and Sheriff all dug into their wallets and put money on the table until they had enough for the florist bill.
Decision: The Court voted unanimously to Approve Accounts Payable with the two exceptions: addition of library utility bill and removal of the florist bill.
6. Discuss Next Commissioners’ Court Date & Time:
It was decided to keep the next scheduled meeting, March 28, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. in the Commissioners' Courtroom.
7. Adjourn: Judge Theodosis adjourned the meeting at 10:45 a.m.
