Commissioners’ Court holds regular meeting, Thursday, May 27th

The San Saba Commissioners’ Court met for a regular meeting on Thursday, May 27th, in the Commissioners’ Courtroom. Judge Byron Theodosis called the meeting to order at 9:06 a.m. Commissioner Lusty gave the invocation and led everyone in the pledges to the American flag and the Texas flag.

Audience for Concerned Citizens for Public Comment:

There was discussion about Regency Bridge; all went smoothly in partnership with the repairs between the insurance company, Mills County, and San Saba County. It was discussed that an inter-local agreement between Mills County and San Saba County, in regards to Regency Bridge, would be appropriate for any future issues in dealing with the bridge.

Special Action Items (and Non-Action Items):

1. Discuss and Take Possible Action on Letter to Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Re: Unclaimed Property Capital Credits for Counties:

Ms. VanBeck noted that the Court usually earmarks this money for Child Welfare.

Decision: The Court voted unanimously to take action and earmark this money for Child Welfare.

2. Discuss and Take Possible Action On State Agency Lease Agreement - Health and Human Services and Department of State Health Services:

There was still concern about not being able to change the lease amount for the duration of the 10-year lease.

Decision: After discussion, the Court voted unanimously on a proposal on the State Agency Lease Agreement - Health and Human Services and Department of State Health Services with a base price of $12 per square foot and a 3% increase every year on the lease date anniversary.

3. Discuss and Take Possible Action on COVID-19:

Ms. Hardy was not present during the meeting. During the discussion, it was noted that there are currently no active cases in San Saba County, and there is not as much interest here in the vaccine now as previously. It was agreed that it is a personal choice if a person wants to get the vaccine or not, and it should not be mandated.

4. Take Possible Action Concerning Burn Ban (Current Status: Burn Ban LIFTED As of 01-04-2021):

Decision: This item was tabled.

5. Approve or Reject Proposed Amendments and/or Line Item Transfers:

Ms. VanBeck presented one Line Item Transfer.

Decision: The Court unanimously approved the one Line Item Transfer.

6. Approve or Reject Proposed Accounts Payable:

Decision: The Court unanimously approved the Proposed Accounts Payable.

7. Discuss Next Commissioners Court Date & Time:

The next Commissioners’ Court will be held on Monday, June 15th, at 9:00 a.m. in the Commissioners’ Courtroom.

8. Adjourn:

Judge Theodosis adjourned the meeting at 9:41 a.m.
