The San Saba Commissioners’ Court met for a regular meeting on Monday, January 25th, in the Commissioners’ Courtroom. Judge Byron Theodosis called the meeting to order at 9:02 a.m. Commissioner Lusty gave the invocation and led everyone in the pledges to the American flag and the Texas flag.
Audience for Concerned Citizens For Public Comment:
County Attorney Robinson reminded everyone of the Third Bi-Annual Candidates Forum on Tuesday, January 25, at 6:00 p.m. All four State Representatives, as well as other candidates, confirmed they will appear.

Decision: The Court voted unanimously to approve the Minutes of Previous Commissioners’ Court Meeting(s).
2. County/District Clerk: Approve Subject to Audit or Reject Clerk's Report:
Decision: The Court voted unanimously to approve the County/District Clerk Report Subject to Audit.
3. County Treasurer: Approve Subject to Audit or Reject Treasurer's Report:

Judge Theodosis and Sheriff Jenkins both recommended this Interlocal Agreement be approved.
Decision: The Court unanimously approved the Interlocal Agreement Between San Saba County and Lampasas County for Jail Services.
2. Accept or Reject Proclamation In Observance of San Saba County School Choice Week:
Decision: The Court voted unanimously to accept Proclamation In Observance of San Saba County School Choice Week.
3. Discuss and Take Possible Action on Stephen Shipley's Subdivision Plat:
Decision: This item was tabled.
4. Discuss and Take Possible Action on Martha Leigh Whitten’s Subdivision Plat:
County Attorney Robinson and Ms. Whitten answered questions from the Court. Everyone present - the Court, Attorney Robinson, and Ms. Whitten - wanted to be sure this was handled correctly since this was the first application to be considered in the new process under the new Subdivision Rules, and things decided in this application would set precedent.
Decision: After extensive discussion, this item was tabled.
5. Discuss and Take Possible Action on San Saba Subdivision Regulation Procedural Checklist:
Mr. Robinson stated the checklist came directly off the Table of Contents out of the regulations. He noted he tried to streamline it for the Court. It was just for their information and did not need a vote. Judge Theodosis said it looked good.
6. Discuss and Take Possible Action on COVID-19:
Ms. Hardy updated the Court about a vaccine clinic scheduled for February 8th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Civic Center. At the time of this meeting, she was still waiting on final approval and for more information. Reporters note: The vaccine clinic has now been confirmed for February 8th. See article on this page.
Ms. Hardy reminded everyone of COVID-19 testing at MidCoast Clinic Mondays - Fridays from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Appointments are needed, but she noted appointments were running a week in advance. EMS is also doing testing on Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. (when they are available and not out on calls).
She noted there is a shortage of tests, and more have been requested. It is getting harder and harder to get test kits. Judge Theodosis stated he signed up via email to receive four free test kits. He encouraged everyone else to sign up also.
Ms. Hardy has information from the State regarding expiration dates on COVID-19 test kits: Accept the positive or the negative test result. If you get an invalid test result, you can try again. However, definitely by the third invalid test, throw away the box of test kits.
She stated this current variant appears to be a three- to four-day event. The symptoms still vary from person to person. Her best advice: treat the symptoms and stay hydrated. She has heard that Theraflu (OTC) will help you get through most of the symptoms.
Ms. Hardy noted she has heard about some hospitalizations here, but it is usually after the person is already back home. She stressed - wash your hands, and wear a mask if you are not with your family.
