The Commissioners’ Court approves solicitation of bids for the old City National Bank Building at their July 14th meeting

The San Saba Commissioners’ Court met for a regular meeting on Monday, July 14th, in the Commissioners’ Courtroom. Judge Byron Theodosis called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. Commissioner Kroll gave the invocation and led everyone in the pledges to the American flag and the Texas flag.

Audience for Concerned Citizens For Public Comment:

Ms. VanBeck addressed the Court to let them know she received notification from TAC about safety equipment for Road and Bridge; every year they give money for the safety program. She asked each of the commissioners to come by her office to let her know how they wanted to spend their money which totaled about $150 each.

Special Action Items (and Non-Action Items):

1. Discuss and Take Possible Action On The Solicitation Of Bids For The Old City National Bank Building:

At the Judge’s request, Mr. Robinson investigated government code to see what had to be done in order to take bids to sell the property. He drafted up a Notice of Sealed Bid for the Court to review. There was discussion about the history of the ownership of the building. Judge Theodosis said he would talk to some real estate folks, and Mr. Robinson said he could procure all paperwork necessary in order to sell the building. The Judge thanked Mr. Robinson for all his work on the project.

Decision: The Court voted unanimously to (1) authorize Mr. Robinson to take care of all the title work that needed to take place and (2) to solicit bids on the property.

2. Discuss and Take Possible Action On The San Saba Hangar Lease and/or Damage From July 9th On Hangers:

There was discussion about repairing the doors and reminding the renters about the securities in closing the hangar doors. So far, the bids on the repairs are just under $25,000. The Judge suggested that Mr. Robinson draw up lease recommendations to present to the Airport Board that would withdraw the county from responsibility in damages if any damage to the Airport is the lessor's fault.

Decision: The Court voted unanimously for Mr. Robinson to draw up some recommendations for the Airport Board.

3. Discuss and Take Possible Action On Interlocal With EMS and San Saba County:

District Chief Alexander with Hamilton EMS was present at the meeting. Judge Theodosis told him the County is very happy with their service and stated all departments have benefited from having them here in San Saba.

Decision: The Court voted unanimously to approve the Interlocal with EMS and San Saba County.

4. Discuss and Take Possible Action on Budget F/Y 2022 2023:

There was a lengthy discussion on the budget, namely on salaries because of inflation. The discussion included ideas on overall percentages to use and how to break down any of those percentages suggested. No action was taken.

5. Discuss and Take Possible Action On Sale of Annex Building:

This item was covered in item number one above.

6. Discuss and Take Possible Action On FEMA Grant Status:

Ms. Hardy stated there has been no change, and there is nothing new to report.

7. Take Possible Action Concerning Burn Ban (Current Status: Burn Ban IN EFFECT 06 12 2022 Expires 09 10 22):

Decision: This item was tabled.

8. Approve or Reject Proposed Amendments and/or Line Item Transfers:

There were no line item transfers to approve.

9. Approve or Reject Proposed Accounts Payable:

No accounts payable was presented for approval. journed the meeting at 3:55 p.m.
