Last week our varsity basketball teams participated in some tournaments. The boys traveled to Junction and came out with 2 wins and 2 losses. The girls traveled to Marble Falls and concluded the tournament with the same record.
Over the weekend, we held the Wreaths Across America ceremony at Cherokee Cemetery. Our students spoke about the event and gave information about the branches of the military. Then they were split into groups along with community members to place the wreaths on the graves of our local veterans who have passed away. This event was coordinated by Mrs. Shannon Padgett and aided by Mrs. Courtney Newman, a former teacher at Cherokee ISD. Thank you to the teachers, students, and community members who have made this event possible. It has grown each year and we were thrilled to have enough money to purchase wreaths for every veteran. This week we are wrapping up the semester with finals for secondary students. Elementary is having their Christmas Extravaganza on Thursday the 18th. It begins at 1:30 with an awards ceremony. At 2:05 we will begin our K-2 program, followed by the 3-5 program at 2:30. At 3:00 we invite families to take a stroll down the hall to view our Christmas decorations. Then at 3:15 our Christmas parties will commence. Classes will resume on Monday, January 5th.
