Carion Wood Quintet sets Dramatized Performance for April 19th

FREDERICKSBURG – A performance of classical and modern works highlighting a colorfully choreographed and dramatized music experience is due here when the Danish-Latvian ensemble known as the Carion Wind Quintet performs on Sunday, April 19, during an afternoon program hosted by the Fredericksburg Music Club.

Seating for the 3 p.m. program in the sanctuary of Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, 1800 North Llano -- the FMC’s seventh concert in its 2025-2026 concert season -- will begin at 2:30 p.m. on a first-come, firstserved basis. The performance is free, although goodwill offerings are welcome.

Intent on offering a new dimension of traditional concert favorites from composers such as Beethoven, Bartok and others, the group is composed of Dora Seres (flute), Egils Upatnieks (oboe), Egils Sefers (clarinet), David M.A.P. Palmquist (horn) and Niels Vedsten-Larsen (bassoon).

The quintet has performed to acclaim at such European festivals as the Rheingau Festival, Kissinger Sommer, Beethovenfest Bonn, Bergen Festival and Tonhalle MAAG as well as at venues in the U.S., South America and the Far East.

In addition to releasing six CDs, Carion has been praised in reviews by Gramophone and BBC magazine while also receiving awards from Danish radio and best classical album of 2015 on iTunes together with “trendsetting music videos on Youtube.

In addition to freewill offerings given at the door April 19, that afternoon’s performance is also being partially funded by donations from members of the Fredericksburg Music Club.

At the afternoon concert, membership cards for individuals or corporate sponsors wishing to join the Fredericksburg Music Club will also be available at the door.
