Hello from Bend,
‘The Bend’ is staying busy, and I’m so happy to hear stories about all of the recent gettogethers! I was kicking myself when I realized that not only did I miss reporting it, but I missed attending the annual Lemaster family event, “Yankee’s Fish Fry.” The gathering took place the weekend before last, and without even being told, I can guarantee that it was a fun and memorable time. Maybe next year I’ll remember to write about it AND attend. *smile*
I want to give a huge THANK YOU for the news below that was submitted this week by Bobbie Morris.
Recent guests in the home of Phillip and Bobbie Morris were Sean Hickey from Glen Allen, Virginia, who is attending college in San Marcos, Bobbie’s cousin Mary Jane Bass of Lancaster, California, and her son Andy Bass of Mission Viejo, California. Also visiting was Bobbie’s cousin Darden Ann and her husband Dennis Hayter from Pasadena, Texas.
Andy is writing a book about his Great-Uncle Felix Scott, a Mustang Fighter Pilot who was killed in India during WWII. Andy has done extensive research and came to San Saba to take pictures and obtain more information for his book.
Phillip prepared a fried catfish dinner for everyone on Sunday night. Joining the group for supper were Jamie Garrett, Lampasas; Amanda Morris, Deidra Nixon, Jackie and Charlene Brister of Bend.
The “cousins” and Andy toured San Saba’s Wedding Oak, Beveridge and Regency Bridges, the San Saba Museum and Millican’s Pecans. They also enjoyed a shopping trip to Harry’s.
We would like to thank Lynn Blankenship for opening and allowing us to tour the museum and Kristen Millican for a tour of Millican Pecans. Both were very interesting and informative.
Bobbie, Darden Ann, and Mary Jane are Great-Granddaughters of the late WJ Millican.
Thank you again, Bobbie Morris, for sharing your family with all of us! I imagine that there will be more gatherings to write about next week. Somehow it seems like I blinked, and suddenly it was May! Seriously though…I wish that I could blink to my laundry suddenly being done. *Ba Dum Dumm*
Speaking of laundry being done, or lack thereof…Mother’s Day is this Sunday!! I’m sure most will agree with me when I say that moms are seriously real-life superheroes. I was actually thinking maybe we could vote the holiday into more of a weekly thing. Oooohhh, I have an even better idea. How about we change every ‘Monday’ into ‘MOMday’??
Last, but not least, while on the ‘mom’ subject…my mom, Linda Clifton, celebrates her birthday this week, May 6th! Happy Birthday, Mom, and Happy Mother’s Day!!
Until next week…
Yours Truly,
Brandie from the Bend
