The Bend News

Hello from Bend!

It’s hard to believe that another month of 2022 has just about come and gone. It will be springtime before we know it, and I personally can’t wait for warmer days and hopefully some rain! We are already getting a taste of some beautiful weather (between the freezing torturous days, haha) and seeing more visitors come our way for the season.

Despite the weather always changing, there is one sure thing that remains the same this time of the year. It is guaranteed that the fishermen have been anxiously geared up, giddy, and ready to go! The last couple of weeks, the reports of catching crappie were coming in left and right! While some fishermen are still seeing crappie, others are focused on a different kind of fish. For decades, fishermen, friends, and families have made traditions of visiting Bend each year for one thing. I would assume everyone knows what that is and that it goes without saying. However, because fisherman and patience go hand in hand, I am going to add a drumroll just to add a teasing…. and dramatic effect…. of dragging out…. the most…..anticipated answer…. of…. the most…. frequently.. heard..question….of…every… hour……..

“Are the white bass runnin’?” ….….Drumroll please…..…

….….Drumroll please…..…

No. The white bass are not running. That would just be silly. Fish don’t run. They swim. And guess what?! The white bass have started up the Colorado River, folks!!! Limits are being caught, and a lot of fun is being had and memories being created.

In other news, the monthly Bend Community Meeting was held this past Saturday. It was a short meeting, but a good one nonetheless. The next meeting will take place March 19th, and we hope to see you all there! Just a quick reminder that the Bend Cookbooks (Vol. 3) are still available for just $15. I can promise you that it is filled with recipes that will knock your socks off. To get yours, please call Debbie Hicks at 325-628-3636.

Benji Copeland just celebrated his 14th birthday on February 19th - a BIG Happy Birthday to Benji! We’ve got more birthdays and anniversaries coming up next month, and I would love to add your special day to our announcements.

As I am still navigating my niche and finding my comfort zone in writing this column each week, please remember that you can reach out to me directly if you have any thoughts, ideas, concerns, announcements, or news that you would like to share. I’m still very excited to have taken on this opportunity, and thank you for your patience in walking this new path with me.

Yours truly,

Brandie from the Bend
