The rain came down this past week, and it was a good soaker. Three inches reported over at Phillip Morris', and Jackie Brister reported 4 ½ inch.

When reporting about the Mother’s Day event at the Morris celebration, Jamie Garrett’s name was left out. But she was there and did her part in the celebration.

Monday, May 18, is Memorial Day, a federal holiday in the United States for honoring and taking time to remember and honor all those who served in the armed forces and died.

Jim Hicks always puts flags out at the Colony cemetery, and Bobbie Morris puts flags out at the High Valley cemetery. Many thanks goes out to the both of them. They have done this for many years.

San Saba has reported the first case of someone coming down with the virus. Let us hope that will be the only case and that the person can recover from it. Remember to wear a mask and keep your distance from everyone and to wash your hands. Stay safe!

There are still people on the prayer list: Jane Clark, Pete Henniger, Earl Ray Sutton, and Phil B. McCoury; and you know of course to include their family members as they are going through some rough times too.

Received an update on Jerry Reavis; he was dismissed from Scott and White hospital to a nursing home in Lampasas. He fell at the nursing home and broke his leg and is now in the hospital at Llano. Charlene goes over every day to check on him; she is not allowed to go in to see him. Hospice is with him there, and the staff are keeping him as comfortable as they can.

Lometa held, via Facebook and Zoom, their awards ceremony last week.

Laura Beth Hicks got a number of awards and scholarships. Kayla Reaves, who will be a senior next year, also got some recognition. Now if they can just figure out a “virtual prom” for the kids.

This will be a year that will be talked about for years to come, as it will be different from the past graduation ceremonies and celebrations.

All of the schools around are trying to think of different things to make it special for all the seniors who are graduating.

Happy birthday greetings go out to Randy McKinney who will celebrate a birthday May 21, to Gail Callahan who will be celebrating her birthday May 22, to Jim Hicks who will celebrate a birthday May 23, to Robert Price who will celebrate a birthday May 24, to Brian Felts who will celebrate a birthday May 25; and on May 26, Allison Preece, Spring Price and Eden Preece will all celebrate a birthday.
