The Bend News

Hello from Bend, Another week has gone by! We had a wonderful little rain, and the temps are cooling. The days are getting shorter, and the nights are getting longer. One thing is for sure: the wildlife is active, and with high grass in the ditches, it makes driving more difficult, especially early morning trips to school. My kiddos are having a good school year, and for that, I'm thankful.

This last Saturday evening at the Bend Community Center, we had our annual Bend cake auction. Roughly 70 people gathered, and about $5,000 was raised. I had an absolutely fantastic time and laughed a lot during the evening. The German meal was delicious (Thanks to Bobby and Debbie Hicks), and I ate too many yummy sweets, haha. Grady Gibson is the MOST fun auctioneer! He makes it hard to say no during bidding, haha. Carol Gibson took “Overall Champion” with her Apple Pie cake. Congratulations, Carol!

The family of Doris Mae Henniger Griffin Poe donated a Bend Cats uniform! This will be framed and displayed in the Schoolhouse along with two pictures: one showing one of the ball teams and another showing kids in front of the school.

Prayers go out to Raymond Hicks and his family. Raymond had hip surgery, and once released from the hospital, he will be in rehabilitation for a while. Luckily, he will be able to heal up in a San Saba location and will be close to home, friends, family, and loved ones.

Don't forget to stay humble, be kind, say your prayers and count yer blessings.

Until next week, Brandie from the Bend 325-628-3545 Countrybrandie@ gmail. com
