Hello from Bend,
Hot Dang! We can all officially complain about the heat. It has been scorching outside. Every time I open the door, my mind flashes to the Wicked Witch of Oz as she bellows “I’m melting!” Going outside feels like stepping into the actual Sun. That is an accurate description, don’t you think? I got sunburned just from peeking out the curtain. Ha! Okay, I might be a little dramatic, but it makes it no less hot outside. Dangerously hot.
This got me thinking about alternate and unique ways to keep cool without an air conditioner. With the Texas heat, this is something that we should always try to prepare for. I was going to search the internet and provide you all with a list of tips, but you can likely get that information everywhere you turn right now. I decided I would share some tips that you might not have heard before, courtesy of myself and also the internet. First things first, I am not claiming that these will work, or that they are smart, or safe. I’m also not advising to try them, as I do not want to be held liable. *smirk* Just giving ya some options. Below you’ll find a list of creativity at it’s finest:
• Make an ice cube necklace
• Rent an igloo
• Shower with your clothes on, every hour or as needed
• Get a solar powered cowboy hat with a fan built-in
• Pick a fight with your spouse before bed to avoid extra body heat and hot fire breathing
• Eat spicy food and cool off with your sweat
• Spritz yourself with tea
• Lick your wrist (people are really doing this!)
• Wallow in mud
• Sit on an ice pack
• Freeze yer hat
• Train a hummingbird to fan your face and a raccoon to give you sips of sweet iced tea
• Freeze yer unmentionables before putin’ ‘em on (I would imagine the ‘ol water bras would be perfect!!!)
• Tell the sun to go away
In all seriousness, I hope everyone is staying cool and being safe. If you haven’t been doing so already, please make sure to check on your neighbors and others in your community!
We have one birthday to announce! Happy Birthday goes to William Clark on June 16th! May your day be filled with air conditioning!
Until next time…
Stay cool,
