Angels appeared to shepherds with good tidings of great joy that a baby was born in the City of David who is Christ the Lord. The shepherds went to Bethlehem and saw this Child and told others. But Mary, the mother of Jesus, pondered this in her heart.
Pondered is not a word of our everyday language; however it is important that we ponder. Definition for ponder: to think deeply; deliberate. I have an angel that when I turn it on whirls different colors as I ponder about my dear friend Linda who gave it to me years ago. Linda and Sam Purtee loved visiting my husband Larry and I in Texas where they stayed in their camper at Joe Ragsdale Park. Linda pondered about moving to Texas, and Sam pondered Ohio. At one of the Trade Days on the square in San Saba, Linda talked to a woman who knitted hats. The woman invited Linda to her home where she taught her how to make the hats. Linda died in Ohio in February 2012. Her obit listed the “happy hats” she lovingly made and gave away to people in Ohio, Texas, and Mexico.
As I send and receive Christmas greetings, I ponder each and everyone. Christmas is described as three G's: Giving, Getting and Good. The fourth and Best G is the Gift of Jesus as we celebrate His Birthday on December 25th.
