National Museum of the Pacific War
Fredericksburg, TX — The Admiral Nimitz Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Rorie Cartier as President & CEO of the Foundation, which funds and operates the National Museum of the Pacific War. Dr. Cartier will begin working with staff immediately during the transition period and is expected to be on campus full-time in October.
“The Admiral Nimitz Foundation is grateful to welcome Dr. Cartier back as Chief Executive Officer,” said Greg Shrader, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “His past service to the Foundation helped shape who we are today, and we look forward to his leadership in advancing our mission.”
Dr. Cartier previously served the Admiral Nimitz Foundation as Assistant Director of Development in 2016 and was promoted to Museum Director in 2017. He held that role until 2021, when he became the Executive Director of Patriot’s Point Development Authority in Charleston, South Carolina, home to the USS Yorktown. Most recently, he served as Chief Executive Officer of the Air Force Museum Foundation in Dayton, Ohio.
“I am honored to return to Fredericksburg and lead the Admiral Nimitz Foundation and the National Museum of the Pacific War,” said Dr. Cartier. “Together with the dedicated team, I look forward to strengthening partnerships, expanding impactful programs, and elevating the Museum’s national profile while honoring the enduring legacy of Admiral Nimitz and all who served in the Pacific Theater.”
Dr. Cartier holds a B.A. in History from the University of North Carolina; an M.A. in American Studies from The Universiteit van Amsterdam in the Netherlands; an M.A. in European History from the University of North Carolina; and a Ph.D. in Modern European History from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland.
Cartier’s wife, Erin, was actively involved in the Fredericksburg community during their prior time in Texas, and both are eager to return to the area.
