The 67th Annual San Saba County Pecan Show will be held December 5th & 6th on the ground floor of the Courthouse. Samples will be processed Monday December 5th beginning at 1 p.m. in the Extension Office. Scott Anderson, CEA Brown County and Tom Guthrie, CEA Mills County will judge our show Tuesday morning December 6th.
A sample requires 40 pecans per Variety. Ten pecans from each sample Variety will be weighed, processed and weighed for yield. If you do not know your Variety, bring them. We will identify them for you. We can always use help Monday afternoon for the processing. Our Bend producers have always been faithful to come shell and have a great time doing so. They would appreciate your help.
Please have your entries in the Extension Office on or before Friday afternoon, December 2nd, no later than 3 p.m. This will allow entries to be plated on Sunday afternoon December 4th and ready to be processed Monday afternoon. Having entries early speeds up the processing. San Saba County has enjoyed success on the Regional and State levels. Participation in promoting the Pecan Capital of the World is helpful to the local industry.
