Twelve deserving students from the Texas Hill Country were awarded a total of $19,000 in scholarships by the Hill Country CattleWomen (HCCW). These students are currently Juniors or Seniors attending Texas Universities. One graduating High School Senior also received a scholarship to a Texas Trade School.
Gillespie County claims three proud recipients, including the top award winner, Daylon Nebgen from Fredericksburg. The two additional recipients from Gillespie County were Kaylyn Marie Burrow, and Julie Ann Krebs. Other winners included Cameron Bourgeois, Blake Barton, and Jessica Spenrath from Kendall County; Jessie Farmer, Kody Criswell, and Shay Baker from Mason County; Cade Osbourn from Bandera County; Mary Kathryn Potter from Kerr County; and Hannah Estrade from Bexar county.
Hill Country CattleWomen is proud to support these fine young people as they continue their educations and become productive members of our communities. One of the primary goals of HCCW is to promote and educate people about beef, beef production, and private property rights. HCCW monies come from an annual fundraiser, HCCW Spring Roundup Dinner and Dance. Despite cancelling the annual fundraiser due to COVID-19, generous donations from area businesses and donors supported the continuation of these scholarships. The Hill Country CattleWomen look forward to next spring when they hope to again have a successful fundraiser and welcome anyone who wishes to attend or donate.
