SCAM ALERT: Protect Yourself from Fraud

The San Saba County Sheriff's Office wants to keep our community safe—not just from crime, but from scams and fraud targeting residents every day.

Common Scams to Watch For: 

• Impersonation Scams: Scammers posing as law enforcement, IRS, or utility companies demanding payment.

• Phishing Emails/Texts: Fake messages asking for personal info or clicking suspicious links.

• Prize/Lottery Scams: Claims you’ve won a prize—but you need to pay fees to claim it.

• Tech Support Scams: Calls or pop-ups claiming your device has a virus, asking for remote access.

Remember:

• The Sheriff's Office will NEVER call you to demand payment or threaten arrest.

• Don’t give out personal information over the phone, via email, or text to unverified sources.

• Verify any suspicious calls or messages by contacting the organization directly.
