San Saba Powerlifting competes at Burnet Invitational

The San Saba High School girls and boys varsity powerlifting teams were in action on Thursday, January 27, as the Lady Dillos and Dillos took part in the Burnet High School Invitational. Many schools that competed at the meet were San Saba, Burnet, Llano High School, Marble Falls High School, Lometa High School, Brownwood High School, Blanco High School, Lago Vista High School, Liberty Hill High School, Lampasas High School, Brady High School, Fredericksburg High School, and Ballinger High School.

Lady Dillos

The Lady Dillos had a firstplace finisher for the girls in the 220-pound division as Austyn Graham lifted a whopping 875 total pounds with 375 on the squat, 200 on the bench press, and 300 on the deadlift.

In the 114-pound division against 11 other competitors, Leslie Aguirre came in second place with 615 pounds lifted as she squatted 235, bench pressed 105, and deadlifted 275.

Dillos

The Dillos had a secondplace finisher for the boys in the 123-pound division as Justin Hernandez lifted 715 pounds with 255 on the squat, 145 on the bench press, and 315 on the deadlift.

In the superheavyweight division, Daylon Smith placed third as he lifted 1,000 pounds with 375 on the squat, 275 on the bench press, and 350 on the deadlift.

The 308-pound division saw Christian Ramirez squat an astounding 640 pounds but he was, unfortunately, unable to receive a total score due to bombing out in the deadlift competition.
